About My work
As an Artist, I see art as a journey. To really look and visually investigate is an important part in recreating.
I continue to evolve as all artists do. Lately, I am painting in the impressionistic style, which involves “markmaking”, a technique I have always loved. It basically builds up the structure of the subject.
The use of colour is exciting. I love colour, and am always conscious that the choice of colour can depict or alter the mood of a painting completely. Although my work is colourful, it often holds a limited palette, with a flash of colour here and there. Acrylics are my chosen medium, although the studio is packed with many alternatives.
With portraits, I try to encourage the character of the sitter out and onto the canvas, again through mark making, which makes each artwork unique in style.
My aim is to provoke thought emotion and intrigue....

Commissioned by a Kick-boxer trainer in Spain; after seeing my “Movement” Category on my website. I love working with movement in Art. Sketching picks up the power behind the form, which I can then transform into a painting.

Got messy on holiday in Spain, working on Spanish Food Art and turning them into cards for local friends as thank you cards. It’s preferred in the mountains to make or even grow gifts given, rather than buy if possible, which makes painting more fun.
DONATING ART TO A LOCAL TAVERNA:
Wherever I am on holiday, I am never far from my paints. On this occasion whilst in Spain, I noticed the walls in a local taverna seemed quite bare and decided to donate a few paintings relating to what was happening at the time. A painting of a Flamenco dancer seemed quite apt. Here I am presenting them to the Manager and a local resident.
